The Neural Grader's commercial launch at Ligna of its XXL and compact scanner versions generated strong enthusiasm from the industry with visitors coming from a wide range of countries and segments of the wood transformation industry.

Sawmills and machinery companies saw the Neural Grader XXL version as a game changer enabling faster throughput and the building of new line configurations. A few machinery players saw the possibility with the XXL Neural Grader to move full layers from a lumber bundle directly onto the scanning line eliminating the need for unscramblers and board feeders. This in turn could help accelerate significantly throughput with one player stating that he could triple the speed of his lines.

The Compact version of the Neural Grader scanner received a warm welcome from companies in the 2nd tranformation which are very often confronted with tight space constraints in their production lines. The small footprint of the Compact version of the Neural Grader finally solves this problem and enable retrofits in even the tightest spots.

Visitors were impressed by the capacity of the Neural Grader to detect accurately sub mm defects such as worm holes, pin knots, shake and color defects such as red heart, stain or sap which was showcased with lumber boards on the stand. Many industry participants also showed strong interest for the sorting features of the Neural Grader enabling advanced sorting on the basis of species, colour classes within a species and grain sorting within a species.

Finally the Neural Grader also disclosed to visitors its new cutting optimisation engine for ripping and trimming enabling smart yield optimisation to maximise profitability within the industry.
